The solution enables intelligent, functionally consistent encryption that neither restricts the system's usability for testing purposes in any way, nor falls short of meeting all legal data protection requirements. The absolute innovation of the solution is its ability to autonomously determine the fields and information relevant for encryption from the data model of any SAP module or custom enhancement. This enables the use of a single solution for all deployed SAP systems, with minimal time investment from business departments and IT as well as a rapid go-live.

To address these challenges, R+V Insurance decided to adopt paricon’s Smart Data Protection solution after a successful proof of concept. The key steps for implementation were as follows:
- Localization of sensitive information: Initial identification of all personal data in the SAP system using our innovative, autonomous Smart Search. In this way, a very large number of relevant data records were identified, particularly including custom enhancements.
- Individual configuration of anonymization logic: In the second step, the anonymization rules were configured so that the logic of the existing anonymization functions in the surrounding systems was replicated 1:1 for the SAP systems.
- Performance optimization: In the final step, the performance settings of our solution were adjusted to match the infrastructure and sizing of R+V’s test systems.
The deployment of paricon’s Smart Data Protection solution at R+V Insurance has led to a significant increase in the security and efficiency of the provisioning processes for GDPR-compliant SAP test systems. The following concrete benefits were achieved:

The autonomous search mechanism of paricon's solution finds sensitive data without time-consuming department workshops and complicated selection rules. The high flexibility of the anonymization engine enables us to anonymize the SAP systems analogously to our host systems and other applications. This simplifies cross-system testing activities and creates high acceptance among testers for working with anonymized test data.
In addition to the high flexibility of paricon's solution, we were particularly impressed by the runtime performance. Compared to previous anonymization approaches, with Smart Data Protection we anonymize significantly more comprehensively while simultaneously reducing runtime thanks to the search algorithm. The provisioning time for secured, GDPR-compliant test systems has been significantly shortened as a result.
